The map and route search need a connection. An activated license can tolerate a temporary network outage for up to 14 days, so a brief Polar outage does not lock out a customer.

Apple receives map searches and route requests, the same as using Maps. Polar receives the license key, a Mac label, and a hardware identifier used to enforce activation limits. PostHog receives anonymous website conversion events when configured. Route coordinates stay between your Mac and your iPhone.
